Design can be chaotic, your studio doesn't have to be + Intro!
Hi there!
My name is Niki, and I'm an artist and illustrator. I wanted to start this blog because I find writing to be extremely cathartic, and I wanted to be able to connect with you in new ways, while opening up about myself. (I also hope to share tips, tricks, updates, works-in-progress and general journal-type entries.)
Art truly is my greatest passion, and I believe I am sharing my heart and soul when I create; it is truly the way I feel I can best serve and make a difference. While this is something I feel I've always known deep down, I realize that somehow I was avoiding my truth. This year has been truly transformative in that I truly took the leap into living authentically, determined to be fully me.
That said, I've been experimenting with ways to streamline my time in the studio, and have found that setting up an organizational system for my supplies truly works wonders in my being as efficient as possible. Efficiency and organization can be difficult for me, especially since I have ADHD, so I am always looking for ways to make things a bit easier and better.
...And having things be efficient means.... MORE TIME TO CREATE (YAY!!)
A few simple solutions have made a huge difference:
using photo/polaroid hangers as paint tube storage is not only a visually-appealing way to keep stock of your paints, it is also extremely simple, easy, and customizable in how you want to arrange it (by warms and cools? in a rainbow system? The choice is yours!)
The container store has collapse-able library shelves you can put on top of any table/surface, and this works GREAT as a place to store art books, knick-knacks and serve as a temporary "landing area," or place to hold drying pieces. The best part is if you don't need it it folds flat and can be put away!
Most stores like Michael's and Target offer these little rolling cart/snack cart racks, and they are a lifesaver as places to hold the palette while painting, rags/paper towels, paint tubes and more while in the painting process! It really makes a difference to have everything you need right on hand.
MASON JARS/jars in general! KEEP ALL THE JARS!!

Thank you so much for reading. I hope this was helpful!
I hope you have an amazing week.
